To Grammy and Gramps

We took a little road trip to see Grammy and Gramps yesterday to have a late birthday dinner with Grammy. We stopped at Rudy's to get some food... and a cookie for Brady.

Brady entertained himself in the car with a water bottle and hanger.

After dinner, we took a ride on their new boat.

Are there any fish out there?

A beautiful sunset over the water.
Happy belated birthday, Grammy!

Trash Project

Last night we went to the Trash Project... we didn't really know what it was about just that there would be a lot of trash trucks. It turned out to be really fun. There were all different types of trash trucks, recycle trucks, street sweepers, bulk trash trucks, etc. They drove around in patterns to music, lifting and moving trash cans. It sounds strange but it was pretty cool. Brady loved it.

The librarians also did a little dance about freedom to read... that books should not be banned. Miss Aubrey, who does story time, was one of them.
I guess it was a little loud for Bella.

Sweet Boy

The other night we had spaghetti and salad for dinner. Brady cleaned his plate and then said "That was really good food, Mama." Such a sweet little man. He has been learning how to clear his plate and put his things in the dishwasher.

Brady is obsessed with the ipad. He always wants to play games and is really good at most of them!

We went to the lake on Sunday morning and Brady had a blast playing in the tube (same one he hated last year)!
And driving the boat of course.

Getting Excited for School

Brady starts school next week and we have been talking about it a lot. He is very excited about his new backpack and lunch box.

Every time we talk about school, Brady asks "You'll come get me, right Mama?" and I say "Always!" He seems ready... we'll see.

Winter Clothes

Today was winter clothes day at swim lessons and I am happy to report that Brady did great!

This one is supposed to be like falling off the boat... head first and downward...

Just hanging out in starfish.

Brady is pretty much done. Tomorrow I get in the water with him and Miss Erica so she can teach me how to work with him and keep his skills sharp. We highly recommend ISR lessons- well worth the money!!

Pump It Up!

We bought a Groupon for Pump It Up and today we went to play. Brady loved it. He and Harlow immediately started running around and trying out all the bouncy houses. Hopefully it was enough to get him to nap today :)

Summer Clothes

Brady is getting close to the end of swim lessons. Before he can "graduate" he must prove he can perform his skills in summer clothes and winter clothes. Today was summer clothes and he did awesome!

Ms. Erica dumps them in the pool in crazy positions to simulate a fall and make sure they can still find their way to the surface even if they go in upside down. She even splashes him in the video and he just keeps on floating. Brady laughs and laughs when he watches this video of himself.

When we got home, he ate a big salad for dinner complete with a few types of lettuce, red onions, tomatoes, carrots, walnuts and feta cheese. He emptied his entire bowl! That's my boy! And he was rewarded with ice cream. Yum!

Bowling!

Brady and I headed back to Dallas last weekend to hang out with the cousins. We went bowling- the first time for all the kids. It was a lot of fun. We paid for an hour and didn't even finish our game before the time ran out.

Brady was playing with the ipad and keeping Tate company on his pillow. Tate doesn't look too happy but I think that was because I was taking too long with his bottle. Brady kept whispering "sshhh...it's okay Tate." Very cute!

Success!!

Brady is almost done with his 3rd week of swim lessons. You never know how he is going to do from one day to the next. Sometimes he does a great job and other times it is very painful to watch. Today was a good day- perhaps his best day yet. He is working on "starfish, swim, starfish." While he still isn't crazy about the whole thing, he is doing pretty good. Check out this video from today.

On a side note, this morning there was a snake on the back deck. He quickly slithered under the deck so I didn't get a good look at him but I think it is a rat snake. So hopefully he will help take care of the rat problem and then quickly find a new home. I am still trying to talk Andy into getting an outdoor cat but so far he isn't going for it.

To Dallas to meet Tate

Brady got a new cousin last Tuesday so we made our way to Dallas to meet him last weekend.

Brady asked to hold Tate several times and sat very still and held him carefully.

He would stop playing to go check on him just to make sure he was okay. He did refer to Tate as "my baby sister" a few times... not sure where that came from!
It was so cute to see Brady and Luke actually playing together.. here they were playing trains.

Brady and Luke begged to go outside despite the 107 degree heat. We let them play at the water table for about 20 minutes (thats all of the heat that Grandma Dar and I could take!)

Luke cooled off by dumping buckets of water on himself.
The pool looked very inviting but we made them wait till it was shady out.
Brady gave Luke several hugs and kisses during the weekend- I don't think Luke even realized what Brady was doing, he just kept on playing.
Elle was teaching Brady how to color in the lines... not sure if the lesson stuck or not.

Here she is "reading" to Brady and I think he was supposed to be sitting on the bed with her.

We had a lot of fun and Brady was sad to leave Dallas but excited to get home to see Daddy again!

Swim Lessons

Today was day 1 of the 2nd week of swim lessons... Brady goes 5 days a week for 10 minutes a day and so far he is not loving it. These are survival lessons- designed so a child can "save themselves" by swimming to the side or floating until help arrives. Brady does not want anything to do with it but he is learning a lot despite his screaming. He will float in starfish for anywhere from 3 second to 10 seconds depending on the amount of protesting he is doing. Today he was swimming underwater (for the first time!!) and came up to float in starfish to get a breath. We were amazed!!

Greatest Toy Ever...

We had a baby shower for some friends in play group this morning and we got to play on Walter's new water slide. They kids LOVED it- and you can see why!
