National Hunting and Fishing Day with Grandpa Rollie

Grandpa Rollie came to visit us last Friday evening.  Saturday was National Hunting and Fishing Day so we headed out to check out the set up at Old Settlers Park.
Brady and Daddy practiced howling like a wolf.
Check out how BIG this polar bear is!!
Can you see the claws on this grizzly?
After waiting in line in the hot sun for about 20 minutes, Brady got to shoot his first bow and arrow....

And of course play on the bouncy slide!

Then we headed to Mighty Fine for a burger before Grandpa had to get back on the road.

Worth Waking Up For!

This morning Brady and I woke up before the sun and headed downtown the Capitol to see the Space Shuttle Endeavour fly over.  We had a great view from the south lawn of the Capitol.
It flew pretty much right over us.  It was super loud and over in about 5 seconds but it was
really cool to see!

Then Brady and I took a little walk around the Capitol before heading home to get ready for school.

Puttin' on a show!

Talk Like A Pirate Day

Apparently today is "Talk Like A Pirate Day" and if you wear a costume to Krispy Kreme, they will give you free donuts.  So of course that is just what we did this morning!  If you went in full costume you got a dozen free.  We didn't have a full costume but the hat and an "AAR MATEY!" got Brady his free donut!

Watching the donuts go by... yummy donuts!
Brady was trying to talk me into letting him do quiet time with Macy....
as cute as they are- they cannot be trusted!

Homework!

Brady had his very first homework assignment- and he worked very hard on it!
The poster is "All About Me" and has a box for his picture, his favorite foods, his family, his favorite sports, his favorite book, his wishes and his favorite things about himself.
We spent the morning ripping pictures out of magazines, cutting them out and gluing them down- "Dot, dot, not a lot!" Apparently that is what Mrs. Smith teaches them.

Then he added some stickers and drew a few pictures.  We are mostly done- just need to work on the wishes and favorite things about himself boxes.

Snake Farm... and other fun!

On Friday, Jaime, Ben, Brady and I headed to New Braunfels to visit the Snake Farm.  Jaime has always said she is afraid of snakes but I had no idea how much she meant that.  I think it was very hard for her to go there!  The boys liked it alright and I thought it was pretty cool.

This was my favorite snake because it was the most active.  The boys would put their finger on the glass and the snake would follow it around.  That totally freaked Jaime out!

The Snake Farm had other animals too... alligators and crocodiles, all kinds of birds, monkeys, wolves, hyenas, zebra, pony, longhorns, and the list goes on...

Our next stop was the Railroad Museum... they had all sorts of model trains running and 3 large train cars to climb on- a big black engine, a dining car and a red caboose.

After the railroad museum (and lunch at the Gristmill) we stopped in San Marcos and took a glass bottom boat tour.  I have never seen what so clear.  These pictures are from the roof of a 3 story building right next to the lake.  You can see all the way to the bottom! In some places the lake is 30 feet deep and you can still see the ground.  It was pretty cool!

The First Day of School

Today was Brady's first day of school.  He did great- gave me and Andy a hug and then walked over to the table to start playing.  He never looked back... he is getting so big!

This is after his first day... his class is the Ladybugs so this is his ladybug hat (and his FAKE smile).

Silly Boy!

Brady is always saying things that crack me up but I usually forget to write them down.
Tonight, I told him that he could play in the bath for 5 minutes before it was time to get clean.  He responded, "Mama, I would prefer 17 minutes."  Really?
Then Andy and I were tucking him in and he said, "Daddy, I think we should get online and order me a t.v. for my room so when I wake up in the morning I can watch a show."  He was completely serious- like every 3 year old needs a t.v. in their room!

Boston!

We spent the last two day of our trip in Boston.  I must say- it was wonderful and I could have stayed a lot longer!
We started out looking at the sea lions...
and then boarded the trolly that took us around town and told us all about Boston.  We hopped off the trolly to get aboard a duck boat that took us around Boston Harbor.
This is the USS Constitution- it's pretty impressive.
After the duck boat, the trolly to us to the Boston Commons park were we rode the swan boats

This little duck raced us- and won!  The swan boats are made powered paddle boats.

Checking out the little duck statues at Boston Commons.

Brady is checking the map in search of an ice cream shop!
That night, Andy, Brady, Chuck, Meg, Erik and I headed to Fenway Park to watch the Red Sox.  We had a great time.  Brady and I left in the 7th inning but the rest of the gang enjoyed the entire game.

On Wednesday morning we rode the trolly,
checked out a cool park (and rode a Petra bunny statue),
 and rode the subway

and went to the Harvard Museum of Natural History.
After that it was time to say good-bye to Ingrid, Elsa, Meg and Erik and head to the airport.

Brady got to sit by Grammy on the plane rides home- I think he was in heaven.  She taught him how to play Crazy 8s & Go Fish and read stories to him.
We had such a great trip and enjoyed spending time with Meg, Erik and the girls.
Brady talks about Ingrid and Elsa every day!
